The SUMTS Project (Sustainable Upskilling in Mapping and Technical Surveying – https://sumts.eu/) is an innovative initiative co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. It aims to address the urgent need for upskilling and reskilling in the fields of surveying and mapping, equipping professionals and future experts with cutting-edge competencies to navigate digital transformation and emerging technologies in the sector. Through specialized training and knowledge-sharing, SUMTS fosters sustainability, innovation, and adaptability in an evolving professional landscape.
SUMTS ERASMUS+ PROJECT

Main Objective
To enhance the skills and employability of surveying and mapping professionals and aspiring workers by delivering high-quality vocational education and training (VET) aligned with industry needs and digital innovation.
Approach
The SUMTS project adopts a collaborative and inclusive approach, focusing on innovation, capacity building, and practical application. By leveraging digital tools and fostering cooperation among stakeholders, the project ensures impactful and sustainable outcomes.
Main Tasks
- Conduct needs assessments in the surveying and mapping sector across partner countries.
- Establish agreements and frameworks with local and international partners to launch Surveying and Mapping Centers.
- Develop and procure advanced technical equipment and software for the Surveying and Mapping Centers.
- Design modular and adaptable training curricula focusing on reskilling and upskilling.
- Organise and deliver comprehensive training programs for target groups, including study tours for selected participants.
- Train trainers to ensure high-quality and sustainable program delivery.
- Organise workshops and events to establish business linkages and foster collaboration between stakeholders.
- Assist entrepreneurs in accessing local and international markets by developing promotional strategies and market insights.
